The National Fastpitch Coaches Association honored the Blinn Lady Bucs with four selections to the NFCA All-Region (Midwest) team.

Pitcher Elena Crabtree (17-9) of Montgomery and shortstop Caley Jeter of Huntsville earned first team honors while catcher Caysea Ryan of La Porte and outfielder Tiffany Galletti of Alvin placed on the second team.

The Lady Bucs finished the year 39-14 and hosted the Region 14 tournament.

Ballesteros Stable
Hall of Fame golfer Seve Ballesteros underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor and the 51-year-old Spaniard Is "conscious and stable" a day after the operation. A hospital spokeswoman says a sizable part of the tumor was removed and it will be several days before the results are known.
