Flashback to Flashdance

Every now and then, I feel like the grandma of the morning show.  You see, I was a teen of the 80s... most of my co-workers at that time of day were just born in the 80s.  I even learned recently that I'm actually older than the mother of one of my co-workers.  That one hurt a bit.  Haven't quite recovered from the sting.

As Steve is preparing for his big Ladies' Night debut, I'm doing a little time warping myself.  There are easy outfits to come up with.  As I've mentioned in previous blogs, my mother tends to save most everything.  So, getting my hands on an Esprit shirt, some big jewelry, and a jacket with Linda Evans-esque shoulder pads would be a piece of cake.  However, I've decided to turn the tables a bit for Ladies' Night.  Instead of going as the preppy young thing I was at the time, I feel the need (the need for speed... only you Top Gun fans will get that one) to go a little punk.  Step outside my comfort zone (as I've urged Fullhart to do as well).  So, now I'm having a bit of difficulty finding punk... with extra material for maximum coverage.  You see, I was MUCH thinner in the 80s.  MUCH.  I'm going to blame two pregnancies for my weight, but as the youngest one is three... I think my problem goes beyond pregnancy and right into FOOD.  Another topic for another time.

Anyway, it's really been fun trying to get just the right outfit for Ladies' Night.  Hopefully I'll find all the right pieces to be able to pull it off by next Friday.  If not, it's back to my prepster days.  Perfectly 80s... just not the look I'm going for.

Now, a plug for the Chamber of Commerce... Ladies, if you've never been to Ladies' Night... GO!!!  It's such fun.  If the last time you went it was a bit too wild for you, please give it another try.  Over the years, the Chamber staff members have done a phenomenal job at taking suggestions and making changes where necessary.  It's a fantastic night of networking in a wonderfully fun environment.  And, trust me... you get out of it what you put into it.  DRESS UP!  Have fun and let your hair down (if you still have that 80s big hair).  After all... it's LADIES' NIGHT!!!

Barbara, count your blessings! I was a teen in the 50's. But you know something? I feel really good about it. I'm past feeling old and starting to think how lucky I am to be 68 instead of 88!!!!

You are NOT the grandma...older sister, yes. Remember, I'm the 20-something going on 50-something. I have no doubt you'll find a way out of your comfort zone...just keep me in tow on your way out.
