I am pleased to announce that my husband, Brent, and I are expecting our first baby in June. We found out this week that we’re having a boy! Babies are such miracles and we feel extremely blessed.

Pregnancy is such a crazy, wonderful thing. I’ve wanted to blog each week about the nutty things going on inside of me, but we wanted to wait before making the big announcement, and I’m sure no one cares to read those details anyway.

I’m fortunate to have had a very smooth pregnancy thus far. I wasn’t too sick during the first trimester…just a little nauseous here and there, and of course total exhaustion.

I did get a very bad upper respiratory/sinus infection early on, which was extremely hard to kick. Of course, you can’t take too much to relieve the symptoms, including my all-time favorite, Nyquil. Instead, I used remedies my grandmother used like a saline nose spray, Vick’s Vapor Rub and a humidifier.

New symptoms have popped up in the second trimester besides my stomach popping out. I’ve experienced heartburn for the first time of my life, leg cramps and a stuffy nose. Who knew a little baby could affect your sniffer? Apparently, it’s pretty common. At least, I have more energy these days!

I love getting to see our little guy on the sonograms. And boy, do we have an active one. He’s always moving and wiggling when we take a peek. He’s even waved at us, and sucked his thumb on camera.

Now that we know it’s a boy, it’s on to picking a name and paint color for the nursery. If you have any suggestions, feel free to post a comment.

This is such an exciting time and I’m glad I can share it with our viewers and readers.

Thanks for all the good tidings so far…

Crystal

Congratulations Crystal, by this time I guess you are a proud mother of a little boy. Boy's can be such joys and a mother's unconditional love lasts forever. I have one son who just had twin boys (preemies). They are now 1 month old and finally got to go home after 3 weeks in ICU, I also have a new great grandson who is 6 weeks old. We have all new little boys, looking forward to a girl next time. Enjoy your little boy, I am sure you will be a wonderful mother.

Hi Crystal, I see that no guys have wade into this discussion. I too congratulate you for your coming event. One small piece of advice. While there will be many furstrating moments, try to enjoy them as well, because when he is twenty-five you will wonder where the years went. Maybe, just maybe, he will give you a grandchild about that time and you can start enjoying those moments as well.

Congrats Crystal! I am so happy for you and I am glad that you have had such a smooth pregnancy. Leg cramps were the worst for me as well. There were times I could not walk because of him sitting on my nerve. I would not trade it for anything though and everything you are going through and will go through is worth it when you hold your miracle in your arms for the first time.

Yes, funny how sonograms tell you things of the future. I had 3 sonograms of my last prgnancy and all 3 (done by different people/places) showed I was to have a GIRL. yeah, BOY were we suprised when we gave birth to a bouncing baby BOY. I was so happy!!! We had the nursery already fixed up in primary colors so that was easy. Everything was PINK at our baby showers and having to return alot of girlie presents once he was born was not so fun, but hey, hes a great kid and we wouldnt change it for the world. Congrats to you and your hubby.

This is just GREAT news! Congratulations! Now that you know it is a boy, how about a nice shade of maroon for the nursery? ;) I'll have to send along a couple of Aggie things to get him started off right!

Congratulations! This will be a very exciting year for you and your husband. I hope your pregnancy goes well and you have a healthy baby. I enjoy the people on KBTX and I hope you don't leave, but I will certainly understand if you do. Enjoy each day with your baby. I don't know you or your husband but I do believe you will be a very good Mother-this comes from watching you and your interactions with your fellow newscasters. God Bless You.

Big 12 Break Up? Dejavu All Over Again? Reminds Me of The SWC - 1 Comments Posted
For the last few days I've heard lots of moaning about the coming break up of the Big 12. To those resisting change I've been using all those phrases that deal with change like: "All good things must come to an end." "Change is inevitable." " We must embrace change". (Read Blog)
Defining Moments For Us All - 1 Comments Posted
Throughout everyone of our lives there are traumatic moments we will never forget. I call them defining moments. Some are personal, some we share with our friends, families, our community or our world. For my parents it was the assassination of President John F Kennedy and when man walked on the moon.
