A Double-Treat for Friday (Apr 18)

Mother Nature decided to hand us an ideal weather picture for Friday -- some much needed rain to start the day and well below-average temperatures to end it.

A fast-moving line of thunderstorms pushed across the Brazos Valley early Friday morning producing 1.39 inches of rain in Bryan/College Station -- and beneficial rain. For the first time in a while, we were able to shake much of the severe weather that we're used to seeing in April. Large hail was a common occurrence in North and Central Texas, but as the storms pushed southeastward, they diminished, simply producing a lot of heavy rain across the region.

Skies are expected to gradually clear out this afternoon with a brief, northerly wind. For the second weekend in a row temperatures will drop well below average during the morning hours Saturday. The normal low for Bryan/College Station is 57 degrees, while we're forecasting 49 degrees in-town!

Enjoy the cooler temperatures Friday night and Saturday morning because they won't last long. We're back into the 60s for lows by Monday morning -- springtime in Texas!
