We're Catching Up on Rain!

These numbers change everyday, but the significant drop in our rain deficit over the past two weeks is certainly welcome.

As of August, 21, Bryan/College Station has received 5.97 inches of rain which brings our yearly total to 22.87 inches. We are 1.15 inches below average, but that number is a lot smaller than the near 5 inch deficit we had two weeks ago.

We also set a single-day rainfall record on Tuesday, August 19, with 1.29 inches of rain. That broke the old record of 1.08 inches set in 1923.

"GLOBAL MODELS INDICATE THAT THIS STEERING PATTERN SHOULD HOLD FOR THE NEXT 2 TO 3 DAYS...FORCING FAY TO CONTINUE ON A GENERAL WESTWARD TRACK. THEREAFTER...STEERING CURRENTS ARE FORECAST TO COLLAPSE AND FAY COULD BEGIN TO MEANDER. BY THEN...FAY IS EXPECTED TO BE A REMNANT LOW." AND http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1 shtml/202714.shtml?5day#contents From the national hurricane center pages might mean we are going to get a bunch more rain. If the steering pattern does hold for 2 or 3 days keeping it out over water it looks as though the storm could be strengthened and come here. Tis a Fey storm Me thinks.
