Our general manager, Mike Wright, came through the newsroom Monday morning talking about the big interview I conducted Sunday afternoon.  I asked him if he knew of any longer distance discussions that News 3 may have done, and he couldn't think of one.

Now that I think about it, depending on where Space Shuttle Discovery was above the globe, our interviews with servicemen and women in Iraq may have been a longer distance, but those weren't interviews from hundreds of miles above the Earth.

I have to say, my talk with Aggie Astronaut Mike Fossum aboard Discovery was a lot easier than I had anticipated.  I can't (and won't) speak for my colleagues in production, because maybe they had a harder time, but logistically, the whole thing seemed to go very smoothly.  That's a shared success by our great team here in Bryan, but also the fine folks at Mission Control for NASA who were awesome to work with.

I have to give a shout out to our morning show producer, Candice, who has been working for months to get that interview scheduled and worked out.  We shared a 20-minute window with a radio station and a television station in Minneapolis, where Mission Specialist (and Longhorn graduate degree holder) Karen Nyberg is from.  I can't speak about the radio interview (I heard it went well), but with all due respect to our colleagues at the fantastic CBS affiliate in the other, bigger Twin Cities, I think our interview was out of this world and out of the park.

Again, thanks to NASA, to our great crew here who worked on this, and of course, to the astronauts aboard Discovery for taking time out of their busy schedules to talk with us back on Earth.  I hope folks here in the Brazos Valley enjoyed hearing from our Aggie-naut.
