If the stats are correct (and only 65 percent of statistics are reliable, I'm told), then I'm in a multi-million person global community now thanks to my Twitter page.

Granted, I'm barely in the multi-dozen follower range as I type this, but I guess that takes time, and quite frankly, who would want to follow lil' ol' me?

Britney Spears, I get that.  You never know when there's going to be a(nother) personal train wreck.  Can you imagine if she had Twitter back when she went nuts?

"Attacked paparazzi w/ umbrella 2nite...wasn't raining...y do they care bout my shaved head, drug problem & where I put my baby in my car???"

That was 139 characters, by the way, one less than the maximum allowed.  I questioned how much you can really let people know in 140 letters, numbers, symbols and spaces.  Turns out, it is pretty addicting.

I'll claim one celebrity that I'm following, Shaquille O'Neal ("oprah , wereva u r. , u r a fabulous woman" - April 24, 9:55 p.m.), but mostly, mine are somewhat job related.  Either I'm following fellow journalists, news figures like John McCain ("Met with the Prime Minister of the Tibetan government in exile - they need our support" - April 22, 1:47 p.m.), or news organizations.

KBTX is starting to get into the Twitter realm.  Right now, we're pushing our news page and our weather page that provide lots of updates.  Besides me, a couple (double entrendre) of others on the air have a page: Meredith and Shane.  There's even an insider look.

Point is, there are the narcissistic aspects of having a Twitter page, but I'm coming to realize this is yet another way to relay information, some of it quite valuable.  Not every post will be a breaking news update, but to be able to provide perspective has value in some regards as well.

So follow along with us, folks...you might learn something.  What, I have no idea.

Big 12 Break Up? Dejavu All Over Again? Reminds Me of The SWC - 1 Comments Posted
For the last few days I've heard lots of moaning about the coming break up of the Big 12. To those resisting change I've been using all those phrases that deal with change like: "All good things must come to an end." "Change is inevitable." " We must embrace change". (Read Blog)
Defining Moments For Us All - 1 Comments Posted
Throughout everyone of our lives there are traumatic moments we will never forget. I call them defining moments. Some are personal, some we share with our friends, families, our community or our world. For my parents it was the assassination of President John F Kennedy and when man walked on the moon.
