The 2009 hurricane season is from June 1 - November 30. Like severe weather, the best tool you can use during tropical weather is to know what to do well ahead of time.

Join us beginning Sunday night (May 31) as we'll present a series of stories highlighting the important information you should know this season.

We'll talk about the modified Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, preparations you should make if a storm threatens the Texas coast, new and existing ways you can get information, and a lot more!

Remember, the 2009 Hurricane Tracking Charts will also be available starting next week!

Any questions on the upcoming tropical season?

On which side of a hurricane, east or west, does the most rain fall? And which side does the most damage typically?

I just read a news story that stated this season's tropical storms/hurricanes are forming so close to the gulf that they will be hard to predict and forecast. It also stated that because of the warm waters in the Gulf, these storms can increase in strength at a rapid rate, with the potential to cause major problems inland. Is this a real concern, or just speculation? Thanks KBTX Weather Guys!! :)
