A trip to Calvert is like a trip back in time.

"It's all original, it's all Victorian," said Ken Wilkinson, owner of COCOAMODA.

It's also part of the reason the star chef from England has set up shop in town.

"It's like going onto the set of "Gone With The Wind." You expect to see Rhett Butler come out on the porch, fiercely clutching his ice cold Mint Julep."

Wilkinson opened up his French bistro and chocolate boutique back in 2008 and its sweet success is putting Calvert on the world map.

"I called friends of mine in France and they said, "We heard about COCOAMODA," said owner Ken Wilkinson in a French accent. "I said what? I can't believe they've heard about it in bloody France."

That word of mouth has sent COCOAMODA's chocolates all over the globe.

"We've sent them to Hawaii to Canada even to Luxembourg. Right in the heart of what's supposed to be chocolate world. Go figure."

"My daughter is a chocoholic and we wanted to give her the opportunity to pick out some world famous chocolate," Sandy Goss said.

COCOAMODA made Sandy Goss hit the brakes and smell the chocolates.

"We just come through Calvert," Goss said. "We would not have stopped had it not been for this shop. It's just a real unique place to visit."

And now Calvert's image is changing. No longer a sleepy Texas town with just antiques, Calvert is now becoming the arts center of the Brazos Valley.

"Calvert we're hoping will eventually, with the addition of other artists, turn into the Taos of Texas."

Walking through downtown Calvert is now like walking through a fine arts museum, dedicated to Texas culture.

A visit to historic Calvert and stopping by COCOAMODA. Two more checks off of our Brazos Valley Bucket List.

Cocoamoda truffles are made from the finest natural ingredients and French Valhrona Chocolate. Indeed, from the 20 flavors we all have our favorties and mint is usually a hit. A box of 12 truffles is $36.00 plus tax and our clients appreciate that our products are truly artisan in appearance and taste.

I don't have the slightest idea what "Anonymous" is talking about, the chocolates are the most delicious chocolates I have EVER tried. I live in Los Angeles, where we have a vast selection of chocolates and I would take Cocoamoda brand any day. I just ordered a box for my fiance! Feel free to send samples my way, Ken!
