CLEVELAND, Texas (AP) - Investigators say two parolees have been detained for allegedly squatting in the house of a Texas soldier who lives at Fort Hood and recently returned from Iraq.
A relative of Staff Sgt. Sam Burbank and his wife saw the couple's property for sale on the lawn Tuesday and notified Liberty County authorities.
Officials say Burbank and his wife, Hollie, planned to return to the house in Cleveland, about 45 miles northeast of Houston, to inventory their belongings for possible burglary charges.
Sheriff's Capt. Rex Evans says a man and a woman arrested at the home face drug-related parole violation charges amid evidence of methamphetamine use at the house. Authorities are trying to determine when a door was broken for the suspects to allegedly gain access to the residence.
