It is a big time of the year for youth involved in 4-H around the community. Stock show season starts in February, and Dustin Coufal of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service said the kids have been preparing for this season for nearly a year.
Those involved will be showing in February at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. In March they will then head over to Houston to show during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and will also in the county stock shows.
Coufal said they primarily show cattle, sheep and goats. 4-H is a national youth development program that focuses on mentoring and enriching youth in areas of science, health and citizenship.
