More and more people are relying on their smartphones and tablets for recreation instead of just work.
Now the Bryan-College Station libraries are making it easier to read up while on your handheld device and you don't even have to stop by the library.
The new e-book system launches on February 15th.
Powered by a company called Overdrive, library goers will be able to log on to the site and download their books one week at a time. Library officials say they're just keeping up with the times.
"A lot of people are predicting the end of libraries. It's all going to be online. Well, we made it through Google, you know. We're still here. We'll make it through e-books," says Library System Coordinator Larry Koeninger.
"We'll still be here, but we need to provide the to the taxpayers and the citizens, that have the capability to use it. It's just an evolution for libraries to the next step."
