Rory Gesch, Navasota ISD Superintendent, joined Barbara Monday morning to talk about the new school year.
School starts August 26th for students.
"Meet the Teacher Night" is set for Thursday, August 22 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at John C. Webb Elementary, High Point Elementary, and Navasota Intermediate School.
Navasota ISD has signed on to support the national Million Father March initiative.
When fathers speak with and listen to their children regularly and are active in their lives, they make up part of a good parent team and are critical to strong family structures.
Strong family structures produce more centered, academically proficient and socially developed children who are a valuable asset to their communities.
NISD is supportive of the process, and we are asking that fathers bring their children to school on the first day of class Monday, August 26, and talk with your child about the value of education.
Participating men will be encouraged to volunteer at schools throughout the year.
Women and other family members and friends are also encouraged to be at schools on this day in support of fathers.
Students, parents, and employees now have quick and easy access to school information on their smart phones. Navasota ISD has launched a mobile application for both Apple and Android devices, putting school news, blogs, calendars, and contact information at your fingertips.
The app is available for download free of charge from the Apple and Google app stores and includes push message notification from the school district.
The app features school nutrition information, the online parent grade portal, and Google maps.
It also connects users to the district's Facebook and Twitter pages.
