Terry Dougherty, the Executive Director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley, stopped by BVTM Tuesday to talk about two events coming up this year.
The first is a celebration dinner on January 24th. The dinner starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 7:30 at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station. The event is free and open to the public, although they would like you to RSVP if you are planning to attend. You can call 979-224-3660 or email Tdougherty@bigmentor.org.
The evening will celebrate all of the mentors, big brothers and big sisters in the area. Organizers say those interested in being part of Big Brothers, Big Sisters should attend to speak with mentors. Texas A&M Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Jason Cook is the special guest.
They are also honoring Ronnie Jackson, a long-time youth advocate and former Board Member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley. Ronnie passed away in July 2013.
In March, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley is hosting a fundraiser at Grand Station. "Bowl for Kids Sake" happens on March 1st. Bowl for Kids' Sake is a fun and easy way for you and your company, friends, or family to support the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters. If you're interested in signing up a team and fundraising, visit www.brazosmentor.org. Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley is looking to raise $20,000.
