Brazos County Pct. 1 Constables Serving Papers Again

Updated: Wed 3:02 PM, Aug 22, 2012

Just one week after Precinct One Constable Brian Bachmann was gunned down serving an eviction notice on Fidelity Street, Precinct One Constables are back out on the streets, serving papers.

Tuesday morning, Brazos County Commissioners appointed Constable Jeff Reeves as the Departmental Head for Precinct One. He'll take over Bachmann's administrative duties.

Reeves is a 30-year law enforcement veteran, working previously with the Bryan Police Department and the Brazos County Sheriff's Office before joining the Constable's office.

"This is about Brian," said Reeves, talking about his new duties.

"This ain't really about Jeff Reeves and taking Brian's place. I'm taking over Brian's duties and moving forward with our office as Brian would want us to do. Just doing the right thing and taking care of the citizens of Precinct One."

Reeves has expressed interest in running for Precinct One Constable.

He's spoken to Donna Bachmann, Brian Bachmann's widow, about running and she's given her blessing. He's even started to establish residency in that part of the county to meet election requirements.
