Bryan Police say a U-HAUL pick-up truck crashed head-on into two other vehicles just after 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to Bryan Police, officers responded to a call of a pick-up truck parked in the middle of the road on Kensington Road, around 7:07 Thursday morning. When officers arrived, they found the driver and passenger asleep. When officers woke them, the truck sped off.

Bryan PD says they positioned officers near the exit of the neighborhood and did not want to pursue the vehicle through the residential area.

The U-HAUL truck sped down Canterbury Drive, veering into on-coming traffic, hitting two vehicles head-on. One of those cars hit another vehicle.

The driver of the U-HAUL truck, 21-year-old Garrett Finke, and the passenger, 26-year-old Richard George were taken to St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan. Both were being treated for their injuries before being sent to the Brazos County Jail.

Another person in one of the other vehicles was taken to St. Joseph's for non-life threatening injuries.

Bryan Police determined that both Finke and George were under the influence of narcotics at the time. After a search of the vehicle, police found several tools that are commonly used for burglaries.

Finke, from Washington, TX, is being charged with evading police in a vehicle, driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license, unlawful use of a criminal instrument, and resisting arrest. George, from Willis, TX, is being arrested for unlawful use of a criminal instrument and public intoxication.

Officers had a section Canterbury Drive closed off while they investigated, but that road has since re-opened.

Sandy Farris, with Bryan Independent School District, says that a majority of students that attend Sam Houston Elementary School were already at school when the accident occurred. The school day is proceeding as scheduled.
