COLLEGE STATION The College Station Police Department wants drivers to be aware of a new school zone going into effect near A&M Consolidated High School.
The new zone runs along FM 2818, from west of Welsh Avenue to east of Nueces Drive. The speed limit has been lowered from 50 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour when the flashing lights are on.
CSPD officers will be patrolling the area for violators. Motorists will have a two week grace period to get used to the new school zone.
This is the same area where a 15 year old was struck and injured by a vehicle back in April. Police say Joshua Odle was trying to cross FM 2818 at Welsh when he was hit by a Jeep Wrangler. Residents say the area is dangerous for pedestrians and drivers.
