FEMA officials with Texas Task Force 1 say they are still staging Thursday morning, waiting on winds to lessen before they are told to move in.
The College Station-based Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service sponsored response and rescue team deployed on Tuesday morning.
Charlie McDermott, a FEMA official traveling with TX-TF1, spoke by phone with Brazos Valley This Morning Thursday.

He and the task force are still staged in Alexandria, Louisiana, waiting for word to move in. McDermott said that they rode out most of the storm, experiencing high winds and heavy rains Wednesday.
Thursday morning, McDermott said they are waiting on the sun to come up so they can assess damage in Louisiana and Mississippi.
McDermott admitted that is was frustrating being held at the staging area. Many of the first responders are anxious to get into Louisiana and Mississippi and start responding.
