FEMA officials traveling with College Station-based Texas Task Force 1 were still waiting to move out from the staging area in Alexandria, Louisiana, Thursday morning.
Charlie McDermott, a FEMA official embedded with TX-TF1, spoke to Brazos Valley This Morning by phone Thursday. He said heavy wind and rain passed over Alexandria Wednesday as the urban search and rescue group waited to be assigned.

McDermott admitted that it was frustrating having to wait so long for an assignment. There hasn't been a lot of damage around the staging area. FEMA officials say that high water and strong winds are still two factors preventing search and rescue teams from moving out.
McDermott said TX-TF1 was waiting on the sun to come up before they would know where they were headed.
