A Brazos County family is staying with family and friends Tuesday night after lightning sets fire to their house.
It happened just after 9 a.m. in the 9000 block of Woodview Drive, in the Woodview Estates Subdivision.
Keith Schumann, the homeowner, said his wife heard a loud crack and called him back home after the power went out. When Schumann approached the house he saw smoke coming from the roof and got everyone out.
Fire officials say lightning struck the house causing the fire.
The family is staying with relatives and friends while they assess the damage to the house.
