Game day weekends draw thousands of people to Bryan and College Station. Those numbers are only expected to grow now that Texas A&M is a member of the Southeastern Conference.
The impact of more visitors will be felt in every corner of the B-C-S economy, most especially tourism. That's why the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is already going on the offensive and advertising in out-of-state SEC towns.
The change is visible at the Bush Library. They're getting ready for a new exhibit. But it's the change in athletic conference for Texas A&M that has Patricia Burchfield and the library gearing up for larger than normal crowds.
"We're excited," says Burchfield. She's the Deputy Director of the Museum and Library.
"They're excited about the SEC."
SEC fans are known for traveling to games. There's an incredible interest in games at Kyle Field. LSU even requested 20,000 tickets.
"We think this will be huge for the economy," says Holli Conley with the B/CS Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is working with businesses to help spread the word about Aggieland.
"To just have all this new influx of people is going to be ginormous on our economy. Bringing those dollars in, leaving them and then going back to where they're from," says Conley.
"For instance, for the 4th of July we have 5,000 through this building in one day. That's a lot of people to go through and we're hoping to see, we'd love to see crowds like that on a Saturday," says Burchfield.
She says that more fans in town could translate into more money flowing into the museum.
"It also translates into advertising dollars because we usually turn around with that money and advertise the George Bush Library as well as Bryan/College Station," says Burchfield.
High hopes and big expectations both on and off the field.
The Bush Library's new exhibit -- Genome: The Secret of How Life Works -- is expected to open up the middle of next month, just before the beginning of football season.
