An alleged burglar is recovering in a Houston hospital after being shot in the stomach by a property owner in East Montgomery County early Thursday morning.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies got a call just after midnight Thursday that the owner of a storage business was holding an alleged burglar at gunpoint.
The owner said that the building alarm had gone off and when he went to investigate he found a man inside the building.
While on the phone with 9-1-1 dispatchers, the suspect moved toward the property owner and was shot in the stomach.
The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. He is expected to survive.
When deputies finish their investigation they are turning the case over to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
The suspect may face burglary charges. No word on any charges the property owner might face.
