Naked Man Arrested After Destroying Bryan Hotel Room

Updated: Wed 9:28 AM, Aug 29, 2012

Bryan Police say they found 22-year-old Cobb naked in the back of the room. He's been arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

A Bryan man is in the Brazos County jail after he destroyed a room at the Best Western Atrea Monday.

Police were called to the hotel on Austin's Colony Parkway Monday after a cleaning lady discovered a room rented by 22-year-old Austin Ray Cobb was ransacked.

Cobb got a room at the hotel Sunday, but then complained about the toilet in the room. Hotel staff gave him another room. Hotel staff told police that Cobb was acting strange. Throughout the night, other hotel occupants complained about loud music coming from Cobb's room.

Monday morning, cleaning crews at the hotel discovered Cobb's first room to be destroyed. That's when Bryan police were called.

Officers arrived just before 10 Monday morning and tried to talk to Cobb. According to the police report, Cobb turned down the loud music and started moving furniture in front of the door.

Police tried to make contact with Cobb, both through the door and by phone. He didn't respond. Hotel management gave police the master key to open the door.

Officers found Cobb naked in the back of room. The floor was wet and stained with an unknown substance. Also, according to police, Cobb tore every page out of the bible in the room and scattered the pages.

Cobb was arrested for Criminal Mischief, causing damage between $50-$500 and given a criminal trespass warning at the request of hotel management.
