Despite a second request this year for a flat fee of just over 126 thousand dollars for fire protection the Navasota City Council has instead approved an offer of $93,241.
According to Chief Jason Katkoski, the proposed flat fee was based on the average, annual cost related to the 23 percent of fire calls the city has responded to outside the city limits over the past five years.
Earlier this year, the council accepted an offer of over 84 thousand from the county for last year's fire protection budget.
