A Councilman is taking a stand against a utility rate increase.
Councilman Bernie Gessner cast the sole dissenting vote on the first reading of an ordinance.
The proposed rate increases are based on a recent utility rate study, and include a 2% increase for natural gas; 3%, water; 1.5% wastewater; and $1 dollar for street and drainage improvement fees.
The only rates that remain unchanged are those for industrial.
Navasota ISD is gearing up for homecoming this weekend.
