Franklin Fire Crews Respond to House Fire; 1 Death Confirmed

The person killed in Friday morning's fire is 20 year old Ben Stone. He was home alone when the fire broke out.

Stone's body has been sent off for an autopsy. Investigators with the Fire Marshall's office are still on the scene investigating, trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

11:30 a.m. Update

One person is dead after an early morning fire in Robertson County.

The blaze broke out just before 6:30 Friday morning in the community of New Baden near Franklin on FM 1940.

Crews from the the Franklin Fire Department responded to the fire after an explosion caused the home to become engulfed in flames.

The fire has been contained, but the home is considered a total loss.

An arson investigator has been called to the scene as many details surrounding the fire remain unclear.

An autopsy has been ordered on the victim whose name has not been released.

Franklin Fire crews are responding to a call of a large house fire Friday morning.

Authorities say the fire is located near New Baden, east of Franklin on FM 1940, one mile south of U.S. 79. The house is located on a wooded lot back from the roadway.

Radio traffic indicates the house is occupied but firefighters don’t know if there is anyone there now.

Caller reported the house fully involved at 6:30 a.m. Fire crews had the fire contained around 8:20 a.m.

Details are still coming in, according to Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak.
