SHSU Grad 1 of 4 Finalists in Houston Astros Mascot Search

Sam Houston State University graduate Trent Coots is a finalist in the Houston Astros search for a new mascot.

The theater major played Sammy the Bearkat during his time at SHSU. After graduating, he went on to work for the Houston Comets and Houston Dynamo.

Coots is now competing to be the next mascot of the Houston Astros. After beating 50 people from across the country, he is now one of four who made it to the finals.

Voting is done online and ends October 17th.

Contestants submit videos online for voters to watch, then cast votes for their favorites.
