A Spring man is in jail after arranging online to meet with a 13-year-old Montgomery County boy.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office arrested 29-year-old Harold Newton Smith III, of Spring, on October 1st, for online solicitation of a minor and aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from a multi-week investigation.
Investigators learned that a 13-year-old male, who lives in South Montgomery County, met Smith on a social networking site and the two arranged to meet. The victim's mother found suggestive text messages on the boy's phone and notified the Sheriff's Office.
Last week, detectives posing as the juvenile arranged a meeting with the suspect via text messaging. When Smith arrived at the meeting place he was arrested.
