Those in attendance Wednesday morning heard moving, funny stories about Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard.

"We're here today to show you we love you, but we don't know quite what to say," said Duane Dunwald, the Bryan Fire Chaplain.

"We're humbled, and a little bit embarrassed, that the service that you provided for us we could never earn nor ever repay," he continued.

With heavy hearts, fellow firefighters and friends honored Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard.

"God was putting him in a lot of places and a lot of experiences," said Bryan Fire Lt. Gerald Burnett, of Eric Wallace.

"[God] filled his life up and gave him an opportunity to come into contact with most of us," shared Brunett.

Former Bryan Fire Chief Mike Donoho spoke on behalf of the Pickard family. He shared the similarities between himself and his fallen friend.

"Greg and I grew up in this business together. We're the same age. Our children are the same age," shared Donoho.

"If anyone deserved this type of recognition, the kind of man that he was and the life that he led, it's Lt Greg Pickard and Eric Wallace," he said.

Congressman Bill Flores spoke about the selfless dedication Wallace and Pickard showed and their sudden death in the line of duty.

"On Friday and Saturday of last week, God called home two of his children and heaven welcomed Eric and Greg with great joy," said Flores.

Two men who will be remembered long after Wednesday morning.
