Schumann Focus Festival
Last Updated: 10:52 AM 03/11/10 - Sixty-seven students from seventeen studios participated in the Schumann Focus Festival auditions which took place on March 6 and 7 in Bryan Library. The audition judges Ed Kane and Lesley Chapman listened to seventy-two pieces of music written by Robert (and Clara) Schumann. Solo piano music greatly prevailed although there were several pieces performed by ensembles (piano duet; piano and oboe; violin, cello, and piano). Music from Album for the Young alternated with pieces from Scenes from Childhood and more advanced and very well known Schumann’s masterpieces. Auditioning students’ ages varied from young elementary school kids to high school students. (Full Story) |
