Enjoy Spectacular Fireworks on the Brazos

Celebrate our nation's independence where Texas declared her independence - at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. The "Birthplace of Texas" has a full day of fun activities planned for this Fourth of July, capped off by a tremendous fireworks display.

The Site will be open from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Visitors can tour Barrington Living History Farm, Star of the Republic Museum, Independence Hall (regular admissions apply) and the top-notch Visitor's Center. Bring along a picnic lunch or enjoy a variety foods and beverages from our festival food vendors. Plus, browse the arts and crafts booths selling a variety of unique items.

When it gets dark, prepare for Fireworks-on-the-Brazos presented by H-E-B. This enormous fireworks extravaganza can be viewed from all locations within the 293-acre park.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. children can participate in 1800's period games. Cool off with free Blue Bell ice cream treats and Coca-Cola drinks, then sit back and enjoy the patriotic tunes performed by the Brazos Valley Chorale at 8:00 p.m. The spectacular fireworks extravaganza, sponsored by H-E-B, begins at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Admission to the park is free and so are the fireworks! Free shuttle buses will be available to bring visitors from satellite parking areas. For more information about fees and directions, call (936) 878-2214 or visit www.birthplaceoftexas.com.
