SWV elementary held a flag ceremony Friday morning. Two kindergartners at South Wood Valley, Emily Barber and Shane Clark have dads who served this year at Camp Bucca in Iraq. Included in the ceremony was a Texas flag that was flown in Iraq on Texas Independence Day. Today, Wolf Den #2, from Cub Scout Pack 602, came to SWV and raised the Texas Flag at the campus. The entire Kindergarten class was there as Emily and Shane served as honorary members of the color guard.

It was truly a memorable experience and very moving. Both dads, Sgt. Curtis Barber and Sgt. Chuck Clark are back home, safe after their year of duty. They both served together at Camp Bucca and did not know each other before leaving. By some miracle, Shane and Emily were placed together in Mrs. Newton's class this year.
