The City of Navasota is proud to announce the launch of their new website http://www.NavasotaTx.gov, a more user-friendly site for both citizen and visitors.

“The new website is the result of a vision of the City Council and city administration to bring much more information to the citizens,” said Kourtney Gruner, Website Administrator. “In past years, the previous version of the website was managed off-site and lacked a content management system (CMS) approach, limiting the amount of information that was easily updatable at our office. Now, I can make additions and post information in seconds.”

The new system is a CMS approach and offers many new things to the user:

• Detailed calendar of city events
• Searchable archive of agendas, minutes, newsletters and press releases
• Comprehensive directory of City staff contact information
• Document Center that provides access to important city documents

With the redeveloped website and addition of new services, site visitors can now access city documents and perform city business online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Navasota teamed up
with CivicPlus on the project, also bringing a GREEN component into the new website vision. Recently, CivicPlus took action to guarantee the energy that powers Navasota’s website is offset by investing in clean, renewable energy. By purchasing carbon offsets from the Bonneville
Environmental Foundation (BEF) they support Navasota’s vision for renewable energy generation efforts that offset the effects of burning fossil fuels.

In addition to the new offerings, Navasota has also approached their marketing in creative ways by utilizing social media with the new site. As a News Flash is posted to the website with information, it is automatically posted to the City’s Twitter and Facebook pages. “This is a great way to reach a younger audience, as well as expand marketing efforts,” according to Kourtney Gruner. “We encourage anyone and everyone to follow us, become a fan, or simply explore our new site.”
