SEAD Gallery is pleased to announce our guest juror, Amie Adelman, Associate Professor and Fibers Coordinator at UNT, will be facilitating a SEAD After Dark class at the SEAD Gallery and Bookshop on October 17th from 7-9 PM. We were honored to have Amie's expertise when it came to jurying our very first fiber arts show, “Intersections". Her class, "The History of Thread in Mathematics in Art", will cover the discovery of descriptive geometry by Gaspard Monge in 1765 and will progress through mathematical models created in the 1800's to artist work created by the artists from 1900-2017.
We will provide the facilitator, venue, and snacks. All classes are BYOB. The class fee is $10. There is a discount for students and members of the Brazos Spinners and Weavers Guild.

Amie Adelman is an Associate Professor and Fibers Coordinator at UNT. She has conducted textile research in over 10 countries and has been exhibiting artwork nationally and internationally for 20 years. Her artwork has been published in numerous books and in a variety of journals such as the American Craft, Fiberarts, Fiber Arts Now and Surface Design.

The Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm are pleased to present a program specifically for home school families.
On Wednesdays & Fridays in September and Thursdays in October, the staff at the museum and the farm will present Childhood in Early Texas, an interactive, hands-on program for the entire family. Discover what life was like for a child in the mid-19th century during a visit to this historic site. In the museum, learn about childhood chores, clothes, and schools, and then make some old-fashioned toys to take home. Take a break with a picnic lunch in the pecan grove along the Brazos River. At Barrington Farm, experience life on an early Texas farm, complete with a stroll through the cotton field, picking a boll or two along the way.
Curriculum materials including lesson plans and activity sheets will be available online to help continue the learning experience at home.

2nd Annual fundraiser for SHIP(Shelter the Homeless Project International). SHIP is non-profit dedicated to bettering the lives of children and families in El Salvador, San Salvador. We have built an orphanage, educational buildings and over 30 dwellings for local families. Our goal this year is to raise funds to offer scholarships for more children to attend safe private Christian schools. We hope to double our students, expand our tutoring staff and hire a missionary couple to oversee our facilities. Our heart is to provide hope and bright futures for these precious children of El Salvador.
