Google released its brand new internet browser recently and it’s filled with neat features you can take advantage of. In this edition of Computers 101, Rodney Harris will take a look at a neat privacy tool.

One of the neat features included with Google’s Chrome web browser is a privacy tool called Incognito – it can come in handy when you’re using a public computer or if you’re trying to shop for a gift that you want to be a surprise!

To turn this feature on, click on the page menu on the top-right corner of the browser. Then click “select new Incognito window”.

A brand new window will appear and this is a special window because it won’t take a record of anything you do! The web pages you open won’t be saved in the history section and your cookies will be deleted after you close the window. (To make sure you’re in privacy mode, look for the incognito symbol at the top of the window)

Browsing in incognito mode keeps Google Chrome from storing information about the websites you visit, however, the websites you go to may still have records of your visit and any files saved to your computer will still be on your PC.

This feature is also included in the new Internet Explorer 8, but the steps are a little different.
