Research in Motion has announced that the new Blackberry will be released in time for the holidays and exclusively to Verizon Wireless customers.

In an attempt to compete with the iPhone, the new blackberry will include a slick touch-screen , with auto rotation from landscape to portrait, but also keep four traditional buttons dedicated to things such as making and receiving calls.

The device will include a list full of features, among those being GPS, Bluetooth, three different keyboards, a web browser and visual voice mail.

But the features that will really stand out are those that are not included on the iPhone, such as external space. The device will come with 1 GB of internal storage, but will also include a microSD slot for you to add more space and an 8 GB card will reportedly come in the box!

You will also be able to send multimedia messages (like pictures) and while it may seem small, you’ll be able to copy and paste text on the new Blackberry, something you can’t do with the iPhone.

And let us not forget -- what would the device be without its famous top-rated email software, which will also be included.

No pricing information on the device has been released.
