Weekdays at 4PM and 6PM
Kathleen Witte anchors First News at Four and News Three at Six. She joined the News 3 team in April 2015, coming to the Brazos Valley from Alexandria, Louisiana, where was the evening anchor at another Gray Television-owned station, KALB.
Kathleen comes to the Brazos Valley from a lifetime in great Southern states.
Born and raised in Nashville, she stills considers Middle Tennessee her home base. Early on, days as editor-in-chief of the high school newspaper and evenings on stage with the drama club turned into dreams of broadcast journalism--specifically the University of North Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication. That dream came true and was realized as four years in the beautiful and vibrant Triangle of North Carolina, with two years working on UNC's award-winning newscast, Carolina Week, and one year as an intern at WTVD. Kathleen graduated from UNC with a double major in journalism and political science.
Following that adventure, Kathleen moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, and spent several years anchoring and reporting for the number-one station in the market, KALB. There, she got her feet wet (literally and figuratively) with live coverage of Hurricane Isaac. She went on to establish herself as a go-to features and arts reporter, all while anchoring the top-rated News Channel 5's 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts with the best team in Cenla.
Now, Kathleen is happy to have been welcomed to Texas with the open arms of that famous hospitality. She joins KBTX to anchor First News at Four and News 3 at Five, as well as to report on the stories of the people of the Brazos Valley. She can't wait to get to know each and every one of you, so come say hi!
