Whitney Miller joined the KBTX News 3 team in November 2015 as a reporter/photojournalist, coming to the Brazos Valley from Houston where she was a digital media content provider at KRIV.
Whitney was born and raised in Houston, and ever since she left Houston for college, she has been on an adventure through the Midwest and the frozen tundra of Alaska.
Whitney studied journalism at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. While there, she interned at all of the local news affiliates in the market. Later, she received her Masters in Journalism from DePaul University. Whitney also interned at WBBM CBS 2 in Chicago. The cold Chicago winters would prepare Whitney for her next journey: reporting in Alaska.
Whitney anchored and reported at the Anchorage FOX/ABC affiliate, Your Alaska Link, for two years. There, she became the go-to military reporter and traveled north to Fairbanks to cover a number of special trainings with the Army and Air Force. Whitney also covered the fight for a life-saving connector road in King Cove. The road was denied by the federal government. Whitney's story got recognition in Congress by Alaska senators.
Whitney moved back to her hometown in Houston and began work with KRIV as an associate producer. While there, she created a social media segment called @DashCamDeets. The on-the-go video newscast continues to get thousands of views daily.
Whitney is happy to be at KBTX and to report on the stories that matter most to the people of the Brazos Valley. She wants to get to know each and every one of you, so come say hi and follow her on social media @KBTXWhitney.
