Position Summary Information
Performs routine maintenance and repair tasks on gasoline or diesel-engine vehicles or equipment.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience in vehicle maintenance repair or completion of an automotive or diesel trade school.
Preferred Education and Experience
Vocational training in related field.
Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Valid vehicle operator’s license and good driving record. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “B” vehicle operator’s license (Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement) within 45 days of employment. Must be able to obtain Texas State Inspections license within 60 days of employment.

Commercial vehicle operator’s license with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement. Valid state inspections license.

This position will be covered by DOT regulations and be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool.

Special Instruction to Applicants
Work hours: Monday – Friday 2:00pm – 10:30pm. Hours are subject to change between University semesters and class breaks. Will be required to work Saturday football games as needed. This position will be covered by DOT regulations & be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool. Please submit a complete TAMU application. An incomplete application will not be considered.
Detailed Job Duties
Performs semi-skilled maintenance on gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment, including fueling, lubrication and oil changes, interior and exterior cleaning and detailing, changing bulbs and all minor repairs needed for transit vehicles. Provides “ready” list of buses available for use to dispatch.
Performs preventative maintenance inspections. Completes and updates manual and computerized service orders.
Replaces parts (ex. exhaust systems, batteries, belts, hoses, etc.) Repairs and replaces tires.

Persons in this position will be required to drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus and are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc.
Assist by driving a DOT regulated vehicle in test driving, recovery of disabled vehicles, delivery of vehicles, etc.
Assures shop area is kept clean and without clutter at all times.
Assists in the training of student workers and wage employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
