Position Summary Information
Job Summary
The Business Coordinator I, under general supervision, provides staff support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and unit budget data as directed by supervisor.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or closely related field. Experience in task management and supervisory experience. Experience in managing business operations.
Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license within 30 days of employment.

Detailed Job Duties Duties Performed Process refund vouchers for returned permits or appeal refunds, including FAMIS entries. Responsible for daily deposits and completion of deposit paperwork. Process Automatic Payroll Deduction including: billing and reconciliation; transferring data files between university payroll system and our business management software; depositing payments; requisitioning refunds; reviewing reports; researching exceptions; sending notification of non-payment; and deactivating unpaid permits. Explain and apply policies and procedures regarding payroll deduction. Closeout and reconcile daily on-line transactions. Responsible for processing refunds for online purchases using the interface provided by the university-selected electronic payment processing company.
Duties Performed Coordinate fiscal activities of the Customer Assistance Unit with little direct supervision. Responsible for using business management software to escalate unpaid citations and print citation notices. Verifies physical inventory against reported inventory and investigates any discrepancies. Reports unresolved discrepancies to supervisor for further review/action.
Duties Performed Order, purchase and/or pick up supplies. File paperwork, reports and vouchers. Manage storage and destruction of unit business files according to record retention schedules and policies. Maintain Procedure Manual for area of responsibility.
Duties Performed Serves as back up and support during peak periods as needed in other functions in the office, such as answering the phones. Serves as back up to Lead Office Associate responsible for citation adjudication processes.
