DALLAS COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - The body of Sherin Mathews, who went missing earlier in October, has been released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas confirmed Sunday that Sherin's body was released, but the medical examiner did not say who has custody of her body.
Sherin's body was recovered on October 24th from a culvert in the suburb of Richardson.
Her adoptive father, 37-year-old Wesley Mathews, was arrested and charged with injury to a child, a felony.
KTVT has previously reported that Mathews changed his story on Sherin's disapperance, initially claiming he left the 3-year-old outside at 3 a.m. on October 7th as punishment for not drinking her milk.
Mathews' latest claim is that he tried to "physically assist" Sherin in drinking her milk, but she choked on it and died.
Mathews never sought medical attention for his daughter.
