WOODVILLE, Texas (AP) - The fourth and final member of an East Texas family has been sentenced to prison for his role in the 2014 shooting deaths of a couple in order to gain custody of a 5-year-old girl.
The Lufkin Daily News reports that Paul Westfall pleaded guilty Thursday to murder in a plea deal that brings a life sentence.
Prosecutors say Westfall shot Nathan and Krystal Maddox outside a Tyler County church.
The couple had gone to the church for a court-ordered visitation with Nathan Maddox's daughter.
The child's mother is Kristen Westfall, the daughter of Paul Westfall. Kristen Westfall, who also shot Nathan Maddox, was convicted last year of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Her mother and brother also previously received prison terms for their roles in the killings.
