ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX) - Lanes are back open after a two vehicle accident forced Robertson County officials to shutdown the southbound lanes of Highway 6 at OSR.
The crash happened just after 3 a.m. on Monday morning at the Highway 6 and OSR intersection. According to the Hearne Fire Department, the driver of a sedan traveling south on Highway 6 struck a cow that was on the road and pulled off to the side of the highway to wait for officials.
According to DPS an 18-wheeler hit another cow, then lost control and struck the vehicle, pushing it into the ditch along the highway.
The semi-truck also left the roadway, finally coming to a stop in front of the Texas Equine Hospital.
The vehicle suffered major back-end damage. The driver of that car was taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the company that owns the 18-wheeler, the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation but is expected to be okay.
All southbound lanes on Highway 6 were reopened around 5:30 a.m.
The crash is still under investigation.
