BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - An Amber Alert remains in effect for a Richardson toddler who disappeared after her father made her stand outside in the middle of the night as punishment.
The Richardson Police Department, which issued the alert Saturday, believes Sherin Mathews, 3, was abducted.
According to an arrest affidavit, her father, Wesley Matthews, 37, forced the girl to stand outside next to a tree at around 3 a.m. Saturday.
When he went outside about 15 minutes later, the girl was gone, the affidavit said.
He waited about five hours before he reported the toddler missing, authorities say.
Police arrested the father of a three-year-old who went missing early Saturday morning and charged him with abandoning or endangering a child.
The investigation into the child's whereabouts is still unknown at this time.
The Richardson Police Department is looking for a missing 3-year-old.
Authorities say that Sherin Mathews was last seen at 3:00 a.m. Saturday by her father outside the family's backyard. She has black hair, brown eyes is about three feet tall and weighs 22 pounds.
Sherin suffers from developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills. Investigators said she was last seen wearing a pink top and black pajama bottoms.
