An Aggie pilot who was killed during the Vietnam War has finally received a hero's farewell.

According to The Association of Former Students, Colonel William Campbell '52 was serving as an Air Force pilot in 1969 when his plane was shot down over Laos. More than a decade later he was classified as 'Killed in Action -- body not recovered.'

His remains were finally returned to the United States this week, and Thursday, Col. Campbell was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

Staff members from the Association of Former Students have been there with the family during this bittersweet time.

"I think today allows the Campbell family to begin moving forward and gives them the opportunity to honor their father in the manner in which he deserves to be honored," said Kathryn Greenwade, Vice President of The Association of Former Students.
