Another Round of Artic Air Headed for the Brazos Valley

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Wednesday Evening Update:

**Powerful Cold Front Moves In On Thursday**

Some big changes are headed for the Brazos Valley tomorrow. A strong winter storm will gather strength and lift out of Colorado and head for the central part of the country tomorrow, bringing snow to the north and a chance of rain for many others, including the Brazos Valley.

Once this front moves through, very low wind chills are expected with gusty northerly winds. It'll feel like the 10s and 20s on Friday morning, so be sure to bundle up.

We started off 2018 with a strong cold snap and we are in for another round of it starting this weekend. It was a nice and seasonable warm up while it lasted, but Thursday features a strong cold front to change things up.

A few showers are possible as early as Wednesday evening and could continue overnight into Thursday morning.

We start the day off fairly mild with some foggy and cloudy conditions. During the day, rain chance and cloud cover will decrease as a cold front comes sweeping through in the evening to clear things out.

Light scattered rain is possible during the morning commute, not going to be a washout but enough to move the windshield wipers and give the kids an umbrella for the bus stop. Only a couple tenths of an inch expected and that’s for the lucky ones out there.

You will definitely notice a difference from when you step outside Thursday morning to when you’re headed to bed that night. Temperatures will plummet and gusty winds will add an extra chill.

Friday, we start off the early morning hours around the freezing point and we keep a light freeze possible all the way into next week. The sun will be out and shinning, but we don’t warm up much as our afternoon highs only reach the low 50s. We'll keep those highs into next week. Factor in a strong north wind sustained around 10 to 20 mph, with gusts upwards of 25mph, temperatures will feel in the teens! Be sure to bundle up!

Winds do calm down as we go into the second half of the weekend, but a reinforcing cold front Saturday makes Sunday our coldest day of the week yet.

We have already had hard freezes across the Brazos Valley, but be sure to remember the 4Ps. Take care of People, bring in Pets and protect Plants and Pipes. This cold air will stick around into next week and we add a rain chance to it on Monday and Tuesday.
