BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Bryan High School student council is helping bring safe water to one Central American country.

Members of the student council wanted to raise $2,000, but doubled that goal. More than $4,000 will now be used to help build 4 water cisterns in Guatemala.

The cisterns are often used as an underground reservoir for rainwater.

Next week, the Bryan High's student council secretary and senior class president will be traveling to Guatemala as construction continues on those wells.
