UPDATE: Bryan driver in stable condition after accidental shooting

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- A Bryan man is in stable condition after an accidental shooting south of Sue Haswell Park Friday afternoon.

According to Bryan police, a man was cleaning his rifle when it accidentally discharged from inside a home on N. Coulter Drive near E. 25th Street.

The bullet exited the home and hit a passing vehicle, striking the driver.

The 71-year-old man was taken the hospital in serious condition, but is now stable. A female passenger was not hit by the bullet, but was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Bryan PD says once the investigation is complete, they will consult with the District Attorney on whether the gun owner will face any charges.
