COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Parking enforcement in Northgate brings in extra cash to the city of College Station.

The city said money collected from citations and paid parking brings in between $1.3 to $1.4 million each year.

All that money goes to the Northgate Enterprise Fund. The city uses that money for everything from maintaining parking meters to janitorial services. They plan on uses funds to buy new meters that will be installed this summer.

In August, the city plans to upgrade parking machines in the garage to make access easier. Staff said they hope to use a credit card system where you'll be able to use your card to enter and exit the garage. They also hope to tie machines into a system where you can monitor your parking time from your phone.
