BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)Troopers are investigating a two vehicle fatal crash leading to one fatality on SH-21 approximately 3.3 miles east of Cooks Point in Burleson County.

Preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 7:05 a.m., Tuesday morning, a 2003 250 Ford pick-up towing a flatbed trailer with construction tools, was travelling east on SH-21 in the outside lane.

The driver of a 2008 Ford Escape, also travelling eastbound, approached the Ford pick-up from behind colliding with the towed trailer.

The impact caused the driver of the Ford pick-up to lose control and it proceeded across the inside lane into the center grass median. The trailer became detached then the pickup rolled several times ejecting the driver. The 2003 Ford pickup came to rest partially on the westbound inside lane of SH-21.

The 2008 Ford Escape came to rest on the eastbound improved shoulder of SH-21. The eastbound inside lane of SH-21 was shut down approximately 4 hours during the crash investigation. All lanes were reopened shortly before 12 p.m.

The driver of Ford pick-up, Jose Sandoval, 45, of Bryan, was pronounced deceased on scene by Judge William Orsak. The driver of the 2008 Ford Escape, Taylor Lilly, 22, of Caldwell was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation with no additional information available at this time.
